  • Feb 24th is the last day to sign up for the “Traditional Campout”. You can sign up online
  • March 9th (Saturday) is the last time to indicate your interest in a Role of Responsibility for the sprint/summer election term. Contact the SPL and Mr. Wood directly with your interest via email.
  • March 9th is the deadline to contact Mr. Wood if you think you qualify for OA but have not already been contacted by Mr. Wood to inform you of your eligibility. Elections are March 10th
  • Patrol Leaders: March 31st is the deadline to turn in the Patrol Award sheet prior to the Spring Court of Honor

Traditional Campout – March 1st-3rd

Our next campout is scheduled March 1st-3rd, which is only two weekends away! We will be camping at Camp Craig up near Loveland. We have a campsite reserved and have 13 scouts already signed up. I’m told that the theme for the weekend is simply to have a campout and have fun.

Cost is $10/scout. Since we won’t have a meeting prior to the campout you will need to pay the Treasurer at the next meeting, which will be March 10th.

Please sign up by Feb 24th if you are interested in going. We will likely be looking for drivers to help get scouts to and from the camp, but do not have to stay. We have enough adults to stay with us over the weekend, but we are happy to have more as well.

Troop Elections are coming in March

Elections are coming March. We may have them as early as the next meeting on March 10th, the details are still being worked out due to scheduling with ILST (training for the youth leaders). If you are interested in a Role of Responsibility you need to contact the SPL and Mr. Wood by Saturday, March 9th.

For those that would like to have a Leadership Project rather than a role of responsibility, please contact Mr. Wood. Remember, you can not use a leadership project for your role of responsibility requirement for Eagle.

Scout Sunday Patches

Unless it was lost in the email, we did not receive any requests for Scout Sunday patches. If you attended a religious ceremony, or service, on Scout Sunday in Uniform and wish a patch please ask for one on the sign up form.

We will only be ordering patches for those scouts that request them. They will be ordered by Feb 24th. This was extended a bit from the 17th because a sign up sheet was not put out at the meeting.

Crossovers

Next Sunday, February 24th, we will soon join Pack 727 for their crossover ceremonies occurring. This is our chance to make a big impression on the scouts coming into the troop, as well as the younger cubs and Webelos who are still a ways away from joining scouts.

If you can attend the crossover ceremony on February 24th, at 3:00 PM, please contact Mr. Wood to let him know.

We also will have a scout from Pack 122 joining us. His crossover ceremony will be Tuesday, March 12th at 7 PM. If you can make this, please also contact Mr. Wood.

The PLC will be looking for volunteers to be able to attend these crossover ceremonies.

Order of the Arrow Elections – March 10th

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is an Honor program for scouts. You can find out more about the OA on their website. Scouts are elected to the OA by their fellow troop members, who are advised to vote for the scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law. Scouts are eligible based on their camping history over the previous two years and must be approved by the Scoutmaster to be considered.

We will be holding the OA Elections at the next meeting, March 10th. We need at least half the troop present to hold the elections. We have already arranged for members of the local chapter of the OA to come to the meeting to hold the vote. Please make plans to be at the March 10th meeting so that you can cast your vote.

At this time all eligible scouts have been contacted by Mr. Wood. If you have not been contacted by Mr. Wood and think that you should be eligible, please consult the eligibility requirements and then contact Mr. Wood via email by March 9th. Remember, eligibility does not guarantee election. It means that your name will be included in the vote for this year. All names on the ballot have the opportunity to be elected.

2019 Guide to Advancement

The Guide to Advancement is a document put out by Scouts BSA National that details all aspects of advancement in Scouting (Cub, Venture, Scouts, Sea Scouts, etc.). If you ever wanted to know the rules for boards of review, leadership projects, or more, you can find it in the Guide to Advancement. They have updated the Guide for 2019 and you can find it online.

The vast majority of the changes to the guide have been to reflect the addition of Girl troops to Scouts BSA. But there were a few clarifications and other changes. All the significant changes are listed on page 7.
