Madden Memorial Golf Service Opportunity – October 3rd

We need at least 9 scouts families to come volunteer to hold golf flags at the Madden Memorial Golf service on October 3rd from 7 AM to 2 PM (might end earlier). This would be a scout and one of their parents or adult siblings. We are asking for families to help so that we reduce the exposure that the scouts and leaders have to people outside of their family group. The organization running the event are implementing several COVID related policies, including having everyone wear masks when indoors, or at the clubhouse. The volunteers will be out at the holes and will have ample space to keep social distancing from the participants.

Please, make room for this service in your schedule and sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4fa9a92aa5ff2-2020This will count for service hours for rank advancement!

Eagle Scout looking for Fundraising Help

One of our scouts is working on their Eagle Scout project and they could use some help fundraising. They have set up a GoFundMe page and is taking donation to help improve the beach at the Camp Ernst YMCA camp. They will be adding a retaining wall and some nice sand to improve the aquatics area. Please share this link with those you think might be open to pitching in!

Elections, Roles of Responsibility, and Leadership Projects

We held the elections for Senior Patrol Leader at the last meeting, but only one of the Patrols had sufficient numbers of scouts to hold their Patrol Leader elections. The youth leadership will be working to determine the best way forward to do patrol elections.

There is still some time to get your name in for a role of responsibility if you are needing it for rank advancement. Remember anyone working on Star, Life, and Eagle needs to hold a role of responsibility, or for Star and Life you can complete a Leadership project. If you are interested in Webmaster, Outdoor Ethics Guide, Historian, Librarian, Bugler, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Den Chief, or Troop Guide please reach out to Mr. Wood. The new Senior Patrol Leader will be interviewing for those positions.

Scouting teaches Leadership. It’s one of the methods of scouting and an integral part of advancing in rank. Our troop is large enough that we don’t have enough troop positions so that everyone can have an active role of responsibility; however, you can still also perform a Leadership Project to advance in rank to Star and Life. If you are needing to work on these leadership requirements we have come up with a more standard way of handling these so that everyone understands the expectations. You can read about how the troop will handle Leadership Projects on our website by checking under the Scout menu. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Wood.
